What we do

Five trades, one crew, one price

Thomas Driveways & Landscaping are a 5-star rated Pembrokeshire based company that offer landscaping, driveways, brick walls and fencing services. Most jobs need two or three of those at once, which is why we do the lot rather than sending you to three different firms.

Tarmac driveway with grey brick walls at a modern Pembrokeshire house

Driveways

Tarmac, block paving and gravel, laid on a compacted base with a proper edge so the surface holds its line at the road and at the garden.

Sandstone patio on a rustic stone retaining wall

Patios

Sandstone, porcelain and slate, set on a full mortar bed with the falls worked out first so water runs away from the house rather than towards it.

Sandstone path and dropped kerb at a white bungalow

Pathways

Paths, steps and access from the pavement to the front door, built to the same spec as the drive rather than as an afterthought at the end.

Stone retaining wall and paving under construction

Brick & Stone Walls

Retaining walls, garden walls and stone facing. On the sloping plots around Tenby, the wall is usually what makes the rest of the garden possible.

Gravel garden with summerhouse and circular lawn feature

Landscaping

Lawns, gravel gardens, beds and features. The whole space designed together so the finished garden reads as one piece of work.

Porcelain patio beside a rock pool feature

Fencing

Panels, posts and gates, set in concrete and lined up to the finished levels rather than to whatever the old fence happened to be doing.

A speciality

Dropped kerbs, done neatly

It is the job customers mention by name in our reviews, and the one most homeowners are nervous about, because it happens on the public highway and everyone in the street watches it being done.

The crossing dug out and rebuilt to the correct depth for vehicles rather than simply lowered
Cones, signage and the pavement kept safe and passable while the concrete goes off
The kerb line and the pavement finish matched back in so it does not look like a patch
The new drive and the crossing built as one job, by one crew, on one price

How we build it

Why ours does not sink

A drive fails from the bottom up. Almost every cracked, dipped, weed-split drive in Pembrokeshire failed because somebody saved a day on the excavation.

Step one

Dug out and carted away

The old surface and the soft ground below it come out and go on the lorry. Nothing gets raked aside and buried under the new drive.

Step two

Sub-base in layers

Stone laid and whacked down in layers rather than one deep dump. That is what carries the car for the next twenty years, not the surface on top.

Step three

Edges and water first

Edge restraints haunched in concrete, and the surface water given somewhere to go, before a single block or tonne of tarmac is laid.

Step four

Laid, washed down, walked

Surface down, site swept and jet washed clean, and we walk the finished job with you before the van leaves the street.
